They are just so beautiful aren't they. I would be happy to have a hundred! If it weren't for the wind......:)

Thanks Thrup, thanks Karen. I do like them, there are a few others in the garden. Seem to do quite well, luckily;)

Your garden must be well watered and sheltered from wind.

Hi Thrup, as it's a small garden, it's a bit easier to keep the acers well watered. I have 2 water butts: one behind the little shed and one down the less used side of the house. All helps!
There is a well planted hill at the bottom of the garden too, roughly the height of the house. I think it lends some extra protection.

The Ivy makes a super backdrop to the Acer too.

Thanks again Karen, I’ve just had to trim a little bit of the ivy, not a lot, but just a little as it had infiltrated my little log shelves!

Yes, I have this Ivy too and I had to trim mine a little bit this week too.

That is a super specimen I'm afraid mine has wind-burn all down one side I hope it recovers ..

Thanks Amy, I think I’ve been lucky with its position!
Fingers crossed yours will recover ;)

Oh this is very nice, is it Lime Green, I've lost mine and on the lookout for another, not surprised as it was only a tiny one from Morrisons and not very sturdy when I purchased it...I stand mine down near my bottom pond, its in the shade from some very old conifers and a rather large hawthorn hedge which does protect them from windburn and too much sun...

Hi Lincslass, it is a lime green acer dissectum. Had it in a big terracotta pot for the first few years. It has been in the ground now maybe 10 years. It seems to be very slow growing. Bought it from a little nursery.

Thankyou Kate, I was going by the lovely green of its leaves, it's a fine looking tree, I love the umbrella effect, is that down to your training....

Hi Lincslass, thank you, I love the colour too! It’s partly due to its’ natural shape and due to light pruning once a year ( early on, usually February time ) x
