Thanks, am I right in thinking the blue are more tender?

I do know they are very fussy about the growing conditions.but on the otherhand should be good for your banks leading down to the water Dawn..The yellow one must have full sun.

I don't find the blue more or less hardy or fussy but unlike C solida which has a corm the blues usually C flexuosa that I grow don't have a corm.
I have them in light /dappled shade in reasonable soil and drainage. The C lutea [bright yellow] is less tolerant of shade but C chelianthifolia [a buttery yellow]needs some shade.

That’s interesting Seaburn, so do you think solida with having the corm makes them easier to grow?
I have a few of these solida in the woodland doing well, got them for £1.99 :) Secret Gardening Club.

I think the corm makes them more tolerant of the conditions in the woodland. So they survive better and need less checking. I have 3 Blue ones that come year on year but I have lost at least 4 varieties. So some parts of my garden aren't suitable. I am hoping to get some more species but some like acid and I am very alkaline.

It’s a shame you lost some, annoying isn’t it.
I need tough stuff so thankfully the solida should continue to do ok for me, thank you
