Pretty pale pink Cosmos

Janey

Pretty pale pink Cosmos

I love these, they were grown from a packet of cup and saucer Cosmos. These have just a light frill inside, some are shaped like a cup and some as normal, they must be the saucer.
So far in flower are these, white and cerise all different but lovely..

These Cosmos flowers look lovely, Janey!

Some years ago I grew some Cosmos 'Seashells' on the allotment I used to have. Instead of the flowers being normal flat-faced the petals on these were like little flutes, very original! I loved them just like I love these! 😃

David, I too grew those Cosmos. Novelty value for a season but only grew them the once!

Very pretty, Janey!!! I do like the name too. Very genteel!!
The subtle colouring is lovely too.

Hi Ba, well I hadn't, and after the torrential downpour yesterday, they're ok if a little battered..:(

Thank you Balc. They Seashells sound really interesting, I'll have to look out for those..:)) We're they this colour?

Thanks Amy and Kate, yes it's a strange name, but does describe some of them. These are the prettiest with a frill round the centre..

Shirley, I've uploaded to my Pictures some photos of Cosmos 'Seashells' from September 2012 if you want to have a look!

Yes they're very similar Balc, I do love the fluted ones and a very pretty pink they are too. I'll take a pic of the cup ones I have, they're all so unusual!

Cosmos are beautiful flowers, aren't they? Does anyone know if there is a dwarf strain? I grew Cosmos on the balcony once, many years ago, but I found they got too big, which is a shame! 👍

It appears there are dwarf Cosmos, height 60cm/24", either Dwarf Sonata or Sensation. I hope you sow seed of either!

Cosmos xanthos only grow to a about 18” Balcony. They are a pretty pale yellow.
