Steller's jay (Cyanocitta stelleri)

They do look handsome birds,K..we have more Magpies this year...they are just as loud.

I love their colours . . .

They are in the same family Meadowland. We do not have Magpies here on the Island but had plenty of them in previous residence on the mainland. Smart birds.

Shirley_tulip, their blue color is iridescent when sun hits it. Very pretty.

I’d love to see the sunshine hit that blue plumage..I’ll bet it certainly looks beautiful!

What a gorgeous bird! We have regular Magpie visitors. One sits and squawks on our birch tree if the mid morning snack is late arriving. I love their varied vocabulary. Such clever birds and clever family.

He reminds me of the Australian magpies, though they're not beautiful, they're loud, bossy and aggressive, but such cheeky chaps too..
