Rosa 'Peace'

My favourite colour in a flower I think.

Lovely. It doesn’t appear to have the pink flush that Peace usually has. I like this plain yellow one.

Josie, I bought this as Rosa 'Gloria Dei' in a supermarket and was reliably informed that it is also known as Rosa 'Peace' but have always wondered if it was mis-labelled!

Its a pretty colour yellow, but I agree with Feverfew about the lack of pink tones.

As I understand, in different parts of the world gave this rose different names. Originally, in her homeland(France) she was named "Madame Meilland", then before war it was sent around the world and the Italians gave the name - "Delight" (Gioia), in Germany - "Glory to God" (Gloria Dei), in the USA - "Peace"
Pink tones are very characteristic of this rose as Feverfew mentioned. There are also many sports of this rose including a climbing one.
I have it and love it. Very robust, strong and not too fussy in our place..... Not even in bud here.
I like the rose in your photo (and avatar) Shirley_tulip even without the pink undertones. Very pretty. Is it a young plant??

K, that is such interesting information, thank you.I planted this in Spring 2019 and the more I view images of it on-line, the more I think it is not 'Peace' at all'! It does have a wonderful scent.

Enjoy it and it's scent Shirley_tulip. That is what roses are all about in my mind. That is a disadvantage of "Peace"...no scent to speak of.

Kate, I do have a fair plants in shades of yellow as OH is colour blind and sees yellow easily ... :o)

I love yellow roses. Interesting info from Klahanie. It can’t be Peace then, if it has a good scent.
