We just did it last night Janey. We are taking all feeders in to unfreeze at night and there was hummingbird sitting on one, We did not know what caused him to stay on the feeder so we took him in(with the feeder) and put him in the box with a see through lid. In the morning OH took the box outside and opened it. He hesitated for a while but then off he went. Not as freezing today...thanks goodness.

Strangely Klahanie My son has a small sparrow
keeping warm behind an outside security light above the back door.

The little bird is smart Julia. Does it activate the light all the time? I know that they like to build their nest by these lights (in spring) to keep their young ones warm.

Yes Klahanie..he tries not to disturb it by using the other door.I expect you remember he is a very enthusiastic wild bird lover so is thrilled to have this phenomenon!
