This is an Ilex 'Golden King' and is about twelve years old now. Not prickly, has lovely smooth leaves.

Julia, I do have a plain dark green prickly Holly in a border ... and now a Rose has grown bigger than I anticipated so some serious pruning needs to be done!

My one Holly is really struggling...we've moved it to try and see if it picks up..
I'll enjoy yours meanwhile 🙂

Kate, despite being called 'Golden King', this is a female variety, across the way from it is a plain dark green Holly, unknown name, so I wonder if having the two helps with the berries ...

I prefer this Ilex to the prickly ones...they are easily shaped.
