Unfortunately they didn't work, the string slipped out as soon as I tried to hang them in a tree.
There is plenty of information on the internet on how to make home-made bird feeders.

Aww what a great pic! :)))
When I make mine, I roll them into balls, and tie the string around them (bit like tying a parcel) then put them in the fridge until they go solid. Then you can hang them up...
