Margerite I never saw a snail in my life until I moved out here and even then we didn't notice any until about 5 years ago. We don't see them every year - usually when we have really good rainfall.

Do they eat everything in sight at night also?

African snails are our worst enemies. They can eat plant to the ground overnight. It is a constant battle that will never be won unfortunately. It's almost as bad as battling ants. It's futile!

Strangely these little fellows don't pose much of a problem here - this is the first time in my life I have ever seen snails in the garden! I don't know what it is about this particular location but they are usually unknown up here in north Queensland.

I know Marguerite from Northern Queensland said the same thing in a past posting. You're both so lucky to not have problems with snails.
