Is that my friend John Coutts in the front?

The bed looks lovely. :-)

Sorry to say 'John Coutts' doesnt bring any plant to mind. The deep cut leaf, growing through the metal ring is Centaurea dealbata Steenbergi. it has magenta flowers. and is an excellent doer. i have small plants of this if you are interested.

John is a Centaurea - he is a real thug and walks from one side of my top border to the other! I can't dig down deep enough to get his roots out - so I think I'll pass on that kind offer, thanks, Sbg.

His name is Centaurea hypoleuca 'John Coutts' if you want to check him out!
