Hottentot fig

By Sorbus

Hottentot fig (Carpobrotus edulis (Hottentot Fig))

This plant has recently been named as one of 15 plants "killing" UK gardens. It may be banned. It creeps, survives on little. Is bold and brash. I am not a fan - don't like the purple and yellow - but it covers space.

Looks like a Mediterranean Ice Plant....with the foliage there.....I'm amazed it survives our cold wet winters!!

Yes, I can confirm that. You see where people hacve put some, usually in rockeries and they've just been left to run wild until there's very little else left as this smothers everything in it's path!

What else?

See who else is growing Carpobrotus edulis (Hottentot Fig).

See who else has plants in genus Carpobrotus.
