Bernieh:

I love the Petunias and the Alcosia sanderiana and Spathophyllum!

Thanks Delonix - yes the petunias always look great from autumn through to early summer. That spath. is one of the babies of big mama - she is to the right of all these plants and needs re-potting again as she is competley root-bound. I don't think there's a trace of soil left in her pot but she still goes on growing. I've divided her up so many times already but she goes on and on.

Bernieh:

It seems Petunias bloom most of the year for you also. Do they get leggy? I know here Petunias bloom most of the year, however, get leggy towards the beggining of winter and need to be cut back. I do know they have a lot of roots too.

Spathophyllum usually don't mind being root-bound, however, they don't receive enough nutrients when too root-bound. My favorite is the huge-leaf variety which I have planted just out my front door...I can't wait until it blooms,
which should be soon.

Yes the petunias certainly do get very leggy Delonix - I always cut them right back after the first flowering (that will be in the next couple of weeks) then they get a regular trim for the next few months. They usually reward me with lots of blooms until the middle of summer.
