Unknown clematis

Unknown clematis (Clematis)

Blooms in early summer. Flowers appear white at first then deepen to shades of mauve and lavender. Large, heavy flower 5" diameter, big centre that unfolds revealing long whiskery looking stamens. Could it be Clematis 'Proteus"?

Not sure Lyn, i though Proteus was a darker colour (described as 'rose-purple' or 'petunia purple') could also be 'Teshio' !!!
Either way though , i love it :)

It's not Duchess of Edinburgh is it? Looks very similar to one I had in my previous garden, many years ago with the double flowers and green tinges!
