Galega officinalis

Galega officinalis (Galega officinalis (Goat's rue))

Causing me problems - the wind keeps pushing it over, in spite of staking and supports!

Do you have a problem with it running as well?

12 Jul, 2012

Yes, it's hardy, and no, problems. It's only the wind causing them!!

Too flippy floppy for our garden unfortunately.

I'm having real problems with it this year, Dd. :-((

The wind has caused a lot of problems in the gardens this year.....

19 Jul, 2012

Now that the hedge at the back of the garden has been cut down it's even worse! I can't wait for the new wall to be built. We've got planning consent. :-)))))

Oh well done, lucky you .....

25 Jul, 2012

It's a whole huge new project...I've ordered a new seat and rose arch too, and I'll have a long new border to plan and plant up! Can't wait. :-))

This sounds so exciting, will it be ready for opening next summer?

26 Jul, 2012

Yes, it should be. Mark (who laid our path) is due to start next week - he says it'll take about a month to build. The seat is coming on Wednesday. No news about the rose arch yet, but the delivery quoted was 21 days. The paving is coming in a couple of weeks, and I've started making a short-list of climbers. :-D)

Goodness, all happening then, hope to see plenty of before and after photos, what sort of climbers have you in mind? We have been out visiting 7 open gardens not for the NGS (except one, new this year) most of them enormous all over 1 acre, tennis courts, swimming pools!! green houses full of exotic plants, amazing selection of trees, native and foreign, never realized just how beautiful the Hampshire countryside is, not done a lot of exploring due to working on our house and garden over the last 12 years, we met some charming people, even though the majority had help they still did most of the gardens themselves, two well over 75!! hope for us yet!!

Indeed, yes. The forms for next year will arrive very soon, so we'll be fixing our dates.

I've 'shortlisted' some roses - 'Gertrude Jekyll' and 'Twist' being two. I want another Clem. 'Etoile Violette' as it's such a good doer, and a 'Warsaw Nike' an Aktinidea. :-) OH says he wants to see the wall, not greenery. (haha)

Yes, I've been taking photos, but it'll be at least 6 weeks until the wall is up. It's all very exciting! :-))))))) I'll have a lovely long herbaceous border to plan and plant, too.

I dont know Twist but we do have GJ lovely perfume......we grow Etoile Violette and Warsaw Nike love them both ,also Aktinidia but it does like some shelter, which yours will get on a wall, ours is on a trellis very exposed.
How large is this border going to be? I see a very big shopping spree happening soon.......lucky you!!

Hmmmm..the Leylandii hedge was about 40' long, so if I subtract the size of the seat 'niche', it'll be two borders, each about 16' long, 3' wide. :-))

I miss the green background of the hedge, but it's very exciting to get a new 'project'.

Shopping spree? Moi? lol.
