Portulacas (Portulaca grandiflora (Double Rose Moss))

More of the sun jewels doing well in the garden since the rain has stopped.

Oh so that's what you call them, aren't they lovely. I have a few too in my garden:-)

We use the term 'sun jewels' over here far more than the term 'portulacas' and it just seems to sum up exactly what they are. Yes I have seen yours in your photos.

Exactly Bernieh, I prefer the term 'sun jewels', so pretty they are:-)

I've never heard them called 'Sun Jewels' before. I like it! They are a common ground cover here...they are pretty long-lived and reseed easily...and are drought tolerant to boot.

Exactly why I like them so much in my garden here Delonix - we've always called them sun jewels downunder, maybe because they add precious colour in our long dry hot months.

What else?

See who else is growing Portulaca grandiflora (Double Rose Moss).

See who else has plants in genus Portulaca.
