why are my honeysuckles leaves turning silver?

I have a yellow honeysuckle that I propagated last year. The problem I have with it is that its leaves a turning silver from the bottom of the plant upwards. Any idea what is causing this? I have done a quick goggle search on the internet and can't see anything obvious. Thanks in advancd Gem.

Almost certainly it's mildew (a parasitic fungus) that often attacks Lonicera especially if the ground is dry and/or the plant is starved, usually by being in a container which Lonicera absolutely hate.

You can spray with Dithane but as usual, prevention is always better than cure. If it's planted in the ground (which it should be), mulch around the base with composted bark and liquid feed it with a broad spectrum fertiliser such a miracle grow or phostrogen. You can apple a slow release fertiliser such as Vitax Q4 later and this is the one to use long term anyway. The liquid one now is just to get it going again.

Some years may be better than others but this should hopefully help.

How do I say thanks?
