Can I grow a dwarf lime tree in a large washing machine tub an can I shape it to be bushy rather than a tree? If so what is a good one for Adelaide and how do I prepare the soil.
Also my lemon tree has small holes on the trunk..not many. An arborist I spoke to said it was stresses
D and to keep it fed and watered. It is budding but with yellows leavers and is quite sparse. I am anxious not to lose it. Would appreciate Dvice. Thankyou

I'm not sure I'm going to be much help but I have been reading up lately as I was thinking about getting a lemon and an orange tree but the patio varieties. The only info i read was that they had a different feed you had to give them in summer and winter and when it got to the cold night you should bring them in. Not sure where your keeping it. I'm not sure if this is the same but when one of my trees had yellow leaves, I was told it was because it needed more water. Perhaps if you spoke to a garden centre they might be able to give you some advice.

You can certainly grow a dwarf lime tree in a container, and prune it to a shape that you like. Best in very gritty soil (half compost, half horticultural grit); keep in semi shade if possible, and keep well-watered.
