Why can't I grow carrots?

By Jeavons

I have tried them in the garden and in containers.
In the containers they have germinated but then failed.
Help !

You need a light, sandy soil to grow carrots so if you have a heavy clay soil you will always have problems unless you can dig in enough sharp sand to break it up.

Always plant carrots in clumps and weed out the weaker seedlings otherwise they don't work - but you probably know that already
