Cyclamen hederifolium

Can anyone advise me on what to do with the mini cyclamens I have just potted up that have seeded alongside my main plant. I know I could have left them in situ, but I want some new plants to give to friends. I have put quite a few in a pot filled with garden soil and covered with vermiculite....where do I put them now...outside, in a coldfame, or inside in warmth?

Andrea, if you had asked this question earlier I would have advised using a potting compost rather than garden soil, but, as you have already potted them I would not disturb them again.
We do this with self seeders and I leave them outside in a sheltered position. Don't let them dry out. It will be a year or so before they reach flowering size so I would look at potting them into individual pots next August time.

And for anyone else doing this, do not be in too big a hurry to pot the little corms up, they are not happy being moved when they are tiny. Better to wait until they are a good half inch across.

I see that you have them labled as 'pink', presumably because that is the colour of the original. Seed will often not come true to the parent so will get different shades. Some may even be white as in Spritzhenry's picture at the bottom of the page.

And if you are really lucky you may even get a really deep pink, nearly red one!
