How long should they be and what depth should you plant them to? Is there anything else I need to know?

On plant Spiraea cantoniensis

I don't know how to answer this one, really - usual method for cuttings of Spiraea is soft wood in late summer, so August, September. Now is the time for hardwood cuttings, and I'm not sure Spiraea is a good subject for those.

Hmmm. Thanks Bamboo for your info. Shame, I kind of have to cut them now as it's for my assignment (i.e. Horticulture course) but there's no specification that I have to plant them, so does it matter? Maybe not.

Try hardwood cuttings? Don't know if it'll work, but as you're cutting them anyway, worth a short, maybe even some softwood ones as well, nothing to lose.
