Which pots are best for patio roses plastic or ceramic

it is personal preference. i prefer pot/ceramic as they tend to be heavier and less likelly to blow over.

Ceramic look so much better. Plastic can detract from the appearance of any plant. Ceramic/clay for me anytime.

ceramic but i think its worth while knowing that the pots you buy comercialy ie terracotta have only been fired at about 850 degrees so are pouras and can get soaked and break.if you get thompson water seal and spray or paint it inside and out this will stop this .clay only becomes waterproof above about 1150 degrees .

I would agree with nosey ,the fact that they are poris and get water in them is why they crack in frosty weather ,when the water frezes it expands, it even blows the front off bricks,

The basic looking plant pots arranged on a stand at all garden centers are made in Germany and are hard fired. These are the ones with the sticky paper bar code on the rim that is the devil to remove! I have used these outdoors for years and they are able to withstand the frost. 'Fancy' pots tend to be made in Italy and are not frost proof.
