the ends of the new leaves on my Alnwick Rose bush have dried and gone crispy which I had put down to the severe weather. It still looks alive. my neighbour doesn't think low temperatures are at fault. Two of their roses look like mine but the other one looks fine. Any ideas as to whats happened and do you think the roses will recover

You're right, it was that easterly wind, cold AND dry. It just crisps things, sort of freeze dried! It'll recover. The new batch of leaves will be fine, I bet.
