Bearded Iris
I'm chucking the toys out the pram and giving up on trying to have lovely bearded Iris in the garden (borders)!!
They begin to sprout new foliage and then they just stop when they reach about 3 inches in height! I'm presuming my conditions are just not dry enough for them. I planted the Rhizomes at the surface in order they get enough heat to keep them dry.
Does anyone grow bearded Iris in containers? How do they cope? I'm going to lift them anyway and thought rather than toss them, it might be worth a go.

I think it would be well worth giving them a try in pots, as long as you can keep the pots in full sun and give them good drainage. Plant them with the rhizome above the soil and after flowering let the rhizomes bake in the sun (Monty Don's advice!) which helps flowering the following year. Nothing lost as you already have the plants. Good luck.

when I split my irises I put lots of pieces in pots and stuck them behind the greenhouse , they are all growing nicely, some of them are in bud. They have had no attention since potting.

Thank you both. I'll give it a go. Nothing ventured nothing gained!
