Hi I have a laural hedge planted since March 2012 and the tips of many of the leaves on nearly all the plants have turned brown since the extended cold weather we had in March/April this year. I presume this is from frost damage. Can you recommend what I should do to ensure the plants come back to full health or should I just leave them to sort themselves out?

We had a laurel hedge in one of our gardens. It was tough as old boots - we used to hack it about and it would spring back again as if nothing had happened so I wouldn't worry. You could clip the leaves and take off the brown bits.

I agree, they are very tough, if you want to clip them, I would use secateurs rather than shears, because you're more likely to cut the leaves in half with shears, which would make the cut edges go brown, and look worse than before, Derek.

Camomile and Derek thanks very much for your comments it's good to know the laural is so hardy and should be fine.
