Plant ID please.

This plant is in one of my customer's gardens. I think it looks like a perennial geranium.Am I right ? if so anyone know it's name or of I'm not any other ideas please?

It's currently about 30 cm tall and wide.

It is an astrantia.

Hmm, could well be, with a geranium behind it.

It looks like the scented geranium which has the verigated leaf and grown more for the leaf and perfume rather than the flower which If I remember rightly was white, I had them a few years ago. I may be wrong, see if there is a perfume to the leaves.

Sorry, took me a while to get back to looking this up. It's full title is ASTRANTIA major 'Sunningdale Variegated'.

Thanks very much for the help. I've never grown astrantia or until today seen any in my customer's gardens but I'll be looking out for them in future

Are they evergreen and easy care?

Mine grow in Scotland, so must be fairly hardy. They disappear over winter and start to peak through in march. 3 in my garden in different places. 1 in shady clay, 1 in full sun in a rich well drained bed, and the 3rd, in my north facing front garden. All do well if the slugs don't get them first.

And they self-sow fairly freely

That's weird Sophie - I've never found a slug near mine. Maybe the west coast slugs have a different preference ;)
