Wooden edging strips keep on collapsing.

Does anyone else have wooden edging strips like the onees in this photo by Sanbaz?

I have some of these which were put in by someone else and they are laid out in a very similar way (though not looking half as nice) next to a wall. They keep on collapsing forward under the weight of the soil. Does anyone know how to prevent this?

Have you got enough supports in the ground? To hold the soil they should be in the ground about 18 inches deep.

Actually I don't think there aren't any supports in the ground! oops! I didn't put the edging in though. It looks like it needs replacing with one that is wider then as I don't think the existing one is wide enough to be buried so deep.

Would the supports be like fence supports, as in posts?

You don't have to bury the boards, if you put in the supports i.e. 4cms. x 4cms. posts 46cms. long, overlap on joints on the boards. On every 92cms, screw the boards on from the outside.
