can i grow snakes head fritillary from seed

I was going to say 'yes - easily' then saw that you live in the States, Jan, but don't say where. They prefer a moist maritime climate rather than a hot, dry central continental one. Do they grow in your region, if so, yes they will grow from seed. I sometimes sow some seeds in pots but mostly just let them self-seed around where they the bulbs are growing.

Just remember it will take several years for the bulbs to become big enough to flower and, if you are a tidy gardener, I would recommend sowing the seed in pots so that you do not weed out thinking it is grass.

" that you do not weed out thinking it is grass."

I do that all the time with Allium and other bulb seedlings!

I suspect that we have all earned the tee shirts for doing that.
