my twisted hazel tree has now produced some very strong branches and leaves which are straight - this is the second year and the leaves will just not crinkle.

It is in a large pot on my patio and otherwise appears happy in its situ.

It does however look strange with the big branches of straight leaves.

Do I take this off - they do not appear to be suckers but look like full grown leaves which do not belong to the plant

Did not wish to tackle this without prior advice as the plant is healthy.

Thankyou for your assistance.

These are suckers from original rootstock, Sheena, and should be removed. We have to do this most years with ours.

Yes, Bulbaholic is right: cut the straight branches off as cleanly as you can.

As beforementioned.
I also have one and have to regularly remove these suckers.

How do I say thanks?
