Not potatoes again ?

Every year I grow spuds in a different place as I've been advised, and every year 1 or 2 grow unexpectedly in last year's place.
Should I encourage these to gro or dig 'em up as soon as I see them ? Yes, I know, I should be more careful to get all the old ones out but fail in the attempt

Where I come from these are called "volunteers" I leave them and they seem to crop quite well.

They often crop better for us than the ones we deliberately plant.

Agree leave them alone and they will, most likely, produce a great crop. What happens is that you miss a potato when lifting them and hey presto... the forgotten tuber gets on and grows :-)

Thanks for the info, I look forward to checking them eventually and will definitely report back.

The only potential drawback is if you are doing a strict crop rotation to prevent disease--sort of like locking all the doors for fear of burglars, and leaving the windows open! : )

How do I say thanks?
