Best plants in an oblesik

Pillar roses, clematis?

28 Jun, 2013

It depends what your likes are,
ie are you a smelly person? (I'll put that another way)
Do you like to roam your garden and be greeted by morning smelling rose's, or may be the beautiful honeysuckle evening smells flowing across your lawn,?

And how long do you want plants to show thier best for,
ie do you want winter colour when a lot of gardens are not showing any?

As you can see a lot of thinking now can give you what "you" want throughout the year.

Have a good think of your wish list ref your ideal wants and then you'll get some replies more in your direction,
Good gardening to you.

I have quite a large obelisk on which I grow the climbing rose 'Phyllis Bide' and Clematis 'Warsaw Nike'. I'm pleased with the effect. There are lots of roses and clematis which would make good combinations. You can choose for both to be in flower at once, or one to follow the other. Pruning is a bit fiddly but worth it in my view.
