I work for a local authority housing assosiation and we are doing research into Neighbourhood Greening for our sites.
We are looking at implementing Wild Flower Meadow into some of the areas and while we are still at the research stage we wanted to know if there are any particular Wild Flower mixes that flower all year round or have the longest flowering period?

Thank you

I deal a lot with MAS Seeds in Calne, Wiltshire. They have always advised well, and supply seed mixes to suit any areas specified

An estate near me has a wildflower meadow. It is about 10 metres wide by 100metres and runs down the path towards a play park. The edge is kept cut and that helps it look purposeful and not neglectful. It is cut in late autumn only. As far as I know it is not seeded with wild flower, it has been left over the past few years to self seed. It has a rich mix already - orchids, Poppy etc and changes colour over the months. Purple orchids I saw today are in flower. I would get a mix of wild flowers then leave it to see what comes back as each site is different.

If you want the areas to look smart, I think mixing in a few cut Buxus and other pruned plants mixed with the wildflowers is a good juxtaposition and makes it look deliberate.

How do I say thanks?
