Advice needed please. Can anyone recommend bedding annuals for a VERY hot and sunny front border? My Begonias in half-shade are four times the size of the ones in full sun and those in full sun are also getting scorched. They don't seem to like that open sunny position at all.
I am in Monmouthshire, near Chepstow.
Thank you everyone.

The toughest plants I know for sun are the zonal geraniums, and their kin. However, the weather's about to change, so I don't doubt you'll be looking at pond plants next!

Mesembryanthemums are very pretty and reliable in hot sunny places.

Thank you both. Those two types will definitely be going in for next Spring.

Are you feeling optimistic, then?

what about gazanias? We used to have them in a very hot south facing border and they did well, they originate in South Africa [like marigolds.]pelargoniums of course do well .

Zinnia and any of the marigols, English calendula as well as the French/African ones which are the tagetes types.

This is going to be a VERY colourful border, Sprog. Make sure you take lots of photographs next year when it's blooming well, and post them for us all to see.
