I grew hollyhocks from seed in 2008, planting them out in late summer to flower in 2009. No flowers and they only grew to 3 or 4 inches. They are still alive and still with green leaves and still the same height. Will they flower this year 2010?

Hope springs eternal!
I can't really help as I've had the same problem over the years, finding that only about 50% come to anything. I've just started some Nigra off in the hope that they'll be stonger when they are planted out.
I'll be keeping an eye on this to see what I'm doing wrong too.

They should bloom this time because hollyhocks are biennial.

How do I say thanks?
