i bought sundance cordyline in late august they were not in good condition i planted them in the ground now 2months later they look dead are they? diana

Possibly. This particular one isn't as hardy as the others, and none of them like really, really cold weather. I see you're in the States, but don't know where, and even if I did, I probably wouldn't know enough about the weather conditions where you are anyway.
If the growing tip wasn't in good condition on the plants, they were probably on their way out when you got them. If the tip was okay, but the rest not, then it might be that the leaves have all dropped, but the plant will grow on eventually, if given the right conditions. When first planted, and for the first few weeks, water is particularly important if you live somewhere warm.
