I've recently bought 2 bare rooted fruit trees, plum and cherry. Due to the current weather and the garden being extremely wet I'm not sure what to do with them. Should I plant them and hope for the best, could I put them in pots until the ground improves?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thats what I've done in the past, be sure to put them somewhere sheltered so the don't get blown over and wrap the outside of the pots (not underneath you need the drainage)with insulation such as bubble wrap to prevent the roots being killed by frost then plant when conditions improve

i agree pot them into the biggest pot you can, keep sheltered and check the watering regularly. they will dry out and this will compromise future root growth.

Many thanks to you both, fingers crossed :)
