Ireland Ie

I have a windy site, facing north, is that ok for maderense ?

On plant Geranium maderense

I'd have to say 'no', guest. It's a tender plant, and as one touch of frost kills it off, and people who grow it successfully have very sheltered warm gardens, it would suffer in the wind, I'm certain. It needs sun, as well.

G. palmatum is slightly less tender...have you looked at that? I'm still a bit dubious about your northerly aspect, though, and you'd be taking a big risk. .

Have a look at G. Patricia it is also pink and was bred in Orkney so should be okay if you can find a sunny or semi shady spot in the garden. It is a hardy perennial.

How do I say thanks?
