Rosa Caroline. I work in supported accommodation and my only colleague has recently died at a young age. The people we work with are devastated and I thought it would be helpful to them if we planted a rose in our small plot in her memory. There seem to be lots of choices - could you help by recommending one (fragrant) that will grow in a courtyard surrounded by buildings that gets the sun for only a few hours a day? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thankyou so much. It will be in a raised bed which already has a good rose that we can relplace with Caroline.

Does it matter which colour?
Red Roses - Fragrant Cloud,
Pink - Gertrude Jekyll,
Dark Pink - Rosa De Rescht
these are quite thorny so do not know if they would be suitable but their perfume is very strong. Good luck with your search and condolences on losing a workmate hope you find the right one for your friends/clients. :O)

If you look at Peter Beales website you can select roses by thornyness as well as colour, fragrance and so on.

If you want something named Caroline, I think there's a darkish pink rose called Sweet Caroline.
