I have a number of primulas which are getting to close to eachother when is the best time to split them and do I store them or re plant straight away

If they have finished flowering you can split now and replant immediately. Make sure you keep them well watered after splitting and replanting.

Hi, if you have summer annuals, you could split them now,as Mg says, but plant them in a shaded nursery bed, and grow them on there until you clear your summer bedding, then plant out for spring flowering, Derek.

If they are species primulas then I would suggest you plant where you want them to grow as some can be fussy about being moved. If, however, they are simply your bog standard primula then you can do as Derek has suggested.
