Google "Your healthy Garden" and click on "drought tolerant plants" maybe you will find some ideas there. Good luck !

Zinnias, marigolds, China asters and salvias are apparently heat resistant.

I have a garden in Southern Italy .. we get temps of up to 40 degrees in summer. As well as all the plants I grow in the UK, I grow Mirabilis Jalapa, Zinnias, Crocosmia, Cannas (but need plenty of water), Gazanias, roses, Salvia (Hot Lips) plus lots of other stuff. I do have irrigation though in most areas. You can also plant things like gladiolis now for a late summer flowering. You could also try lavender, santolinas .. these are more drought tolerant too if water is an issue. My geraniums (common zonal type) grow like weeds, even in areas with no irrigation.

How about oleander, as grown in meditteranean countries, eg in road verges/islands. Tolerates dry soils apparently. Gorgeous flower displays, from white through red.

Thank you Njarratt and Alan for the list of plants.I grow some and I will try the new ones.

@Kath we cannot grow Fushsias in summer but have done that in winter. Geranium grows but we have to keep them in cool and shady places.

You can also try portulucas, gillardia, balsam, apart from those mentioned as annuals, shrubs like hibiscus, oleander, bougainvillea, and adenium,
Plants like the madagascar periwinkle (catheranthus rosea), will also do well. There is no reason why you cant have colour in summer !

You had mentioned that your Cassia fistula does not flower, it needs a hot and dry summer and should get full sun, this tree in North India becomes dormant in November and wakes up in April-May when it is very hot and dry.

Thank you Mochiseki.I grow balsam and periwinkle. In fact they are in my garden now.My cassia fistula is in an open place which gets a lots of sun but it has not bloomed yet.I will try some bloom forcing fertilizer, like Delonix has suggested, hope they will bloom this time. Thanks again for the concern.
