Please can you identfy this it has one or two stems about 4 ft high, growing from a cut down trunk in a friends garden. Also is it better to cut it back down again? many thanks Denise.

Paulownia tomentosa is what it looks like. I always cut mine down in February so that we get huge leaves later on in the year. Left alone it grows into a very large tree with Lupin like flowers.

that looks very similar to a Foxglove tree or Pauwlonia tomentosa. Mine are certainly 30 foot x 30foot and they do seed everywhere.

if you want to keep it small, you can cut it down hard every spring...the new growth will produce huge leaves but at the expense of the flowers

Look like ablution leaves to me. Paulonia are narrow & sleek. How high is the plant?

It was very high before they cut it down over 25 ft but I am not aware of it flowering?
