Aubretia grown from seed..

Can someone please comment on these Aubretia which I have grown from seed...never done it before...and I suspect that I might have got the watering all wrong. That seems to be the general consensus of opinion on here if young plants look 'iffy'!

They seem very leggy and I wondered if they should stay in the greenhouse any longer...or should I plant them out ...and pray!LOL

Thanks in advance...

I would put them out as keeping them in the greenhouse will cause more leggy-ing. I've only ever seen self sown ones and they are 'leggy' too so it may be worth cutting them back a little (certainly the few in the top picture) to help them form bushier plants in later life with more stems.

Yes, I wondered about that too...self-sown ones looked very leggy last year. I was tempted to cut them today...but thought I would ask here first! Thanks again, Nickyt08.

Nip out the ends and plant in the garden and when they have grown a bit nip out again they will soon fill out.

you have left them in the hot greenhouse to long they should have been put outside in a coldframe to cool off and harden

Didn't you do well Izzy. Aubretias are tough obliging plants, bloom forever and easy to get more. Just cut off a handful in the autumn, make a slot with a trowel and pop em all, in and water a bit. At least some will root and be there to greet you in the springtime.

How do I say thanks?
