Anyone know what this variegated shrub is (photo taken today). I'm thinking some kind of Abelia but someone might recognise it.

It's certainly pretty . . I hope someone knows it.

Escallonia laevis Gold Ellen? The variegation colour depends on shade.

Botanic has "hit the nail on the head"! Just seen this plant on another website.

Thanks Botanic. It certainly resembles that variety of Escallonia. But why is it flowering now, when it's supposed to flower midsummer?

It flowers to late summer. Given the mild weather it is taking this stimulus and lack of frost, to flower now. it just proves what a great gardening year we have had.

my Escallonia appleblossom has been flowering non stop since the first big flush in the summer. The frosts will have put paid to that though. A neighbour has 'Ellen's Gold' I suspect that is his name for it he often changes names around so they are easier for him to remember. it is dark like this too. it is lovely.
