Hi All,
I have an issue with deadheading my Petunias.
My Mum says I need to nip the small bit that the flower comes out of as well as the flower.
My Nanna says I just romove the flower and leave the little bit the flower comes out.
Now I am confused can some one pleaes enlighten me.
Cheers F'n'P

I always nip the whole head off.The 'bit' behind the flower will never produce any more will just die off and look unsightly..also ,any leggy growth is best to trim back, which will regenerate new growth and more flowers...

The bit behind the flower is the seed pod, so if you want the plant to carry on producing flowers, nip the dead flower and the pod it has come from off.
Also look for seed pods where the flower has already fallen, you will see the pods, nip these off as well.
