Am an enthusiastic amateur gardener and I have planted some Michaelmas daisies this year for the first time. They are short/dwarf ones and have been in the ground for a couple of weeks, looking very colourful. However, the flowers have now turned black and soggy. We have had a fair bit of rain but as I've never grown these before I don't know if this due to damp weather or is the normal look of a 'spent' flower. I can't upload a photo because by the time I thought about it I'd already deadheaded the culprits! There are still buds to open.
Any comments would be welcome. Thanks

they do tend to go dark and soggy after rain, so just dead heading as you have done wont do them any harm. I usually take shears to mine :o)

How do I say thanks?
