Hi All.
I have a beautiful Acacia dealbata Mimosa tree in a large pot, it's flowering beautifully at the moment, I was wondering if it would need to be pruned & when? Also there are a few lanky stems that have died back so should I take them back now to the heathy part or take them off back to the main stem now?

It should be able to take fairly hard pruning right after the average last frost, Ladyessex. Dead branches should be pruned off any time you see them, too.

That's lovely Lady E!

Yes agree with Tug, Lady E, I grew one in my garden in Spain, it became a large tree with a very brittle trunk and branches, which split when the spring winds came whipping down the valley. As yet yours is only small, but a real beauty and easy to shape and maintain....

Thanks for the info.
Would it be a good idea to cut the top off as I wondered if it would bush out?

I think I would if you're meaning to keep it in a pot. That was the only thing about them really, rangy growth that could become top heavy when in full leaf and so be prone to splitting in windy conditions.
