Another unhealthy plant: Vietnamese gardenia. I cut it back hard after a bad scale infection last year and it just doesn't like me now. Doesn't set flowers, won't take up water, looks veiny. Any ideas? This is supposed to be an easy one, right? I have it in pretty much full shade, does it need sun? And it might have spider mites, but this issue has been around a long time. Thanks all!

Hi, these do tend to need full sun and they also prefer acidic soil too. As you have it potted you could perhaps consider repotting with some ericaceous compost. It could possibly be that it is lacking in some nutrients and needing some sun for it to flourish and set flowers. Hopefully that helps and your plant can start doing as it should :)

Yes, definitely showing signs of high pH. At the very least, use a fertilizer for acid-loving plants.

I would just add that you could do with getting rid of those spider mites. They don't like moisture, so keep giving them a spray. Nasty critters have killed many of my indoor plants in the past.

GREAT feedback. Okay, so need to lower ph and get it in sun. I'll report back with the results. Thanks all!!
