In September Monty Don suggested planting flower seeds. He recommended larkspur and cornflower for a cutting garden. He said they are hardy and would not need cover. I did as he suggested but my plants are very small and I am afraid they are too small to survive the frosts which are coming this week. If I cover them should I then keep the covers on all winter to protect them from bad weather or do you think they will survive however small?

They are as tough as old boots and even at a small size will survive most frosts.

Mine from this year self-seeded and there are hundreds of seedlings now - it's the natural way of things. I'm sure they'll be fine, don't bother to cover them.

Thanks for both your comments. I will be strong and leave them to their own devices! I'll let you know next year whether they survived and post some pictures if they do.

How do I say thanks?
