Plant ID please! Pretty sure it's a CA native. It has been here for many, many years. Was used as a privacy hedge in several places but now only has top growth. Can I cut it low in early spring and expect it to bounce back well with fuller growth? Thanks!

Maybe answering my own question: glossy Abelia grandiflora? If so, not native, I guess. How much can I chop off, ya think?

It sure looks like Abelia g. Cut it down flush with the ground and then expect it to come back with a vengeance if that's what you desire. Otherwise just trim it to keep it neat and tidy.

How do I say thanks?
