Some of my rose bushes are still producing flowers, when will it be ok to prune them?
Thank you.

Bush roses and climbing roses don't get pruned till early March, that's the usual time to do them. You can do them in very late February if the weather at the time, and during the winter, has been generally mild.

Hi Eileen. I live in a very windy spot, so to avoid wind rock and tearing, I lightly prune and thin out all my roses in the autumn except for the patio varieties. Some of these are still holding on to flowers, but I will only lightly prune them in spring. My standards get a hard prune once only, in the autumn, because they are especially vulnerable to wind damage. Shrub roses get a second, harder prune in the spring to keep them to a reasonable size, and at that time I also do remedial pruning on the tea and climbing roses as well, and tie the shoots horizontally to encourage more flowers on the climbers. But don’t worry too much....its quite hard to kill a rose by pruning it at any time!
