I have just started using a.large planter to grow veg .I have put three 120ltr bails of multi purpose compost in and one 100 ltr bail of Irish moss peat I have since read peat is no good for plants ,will it be ok or will I have to do something to grow good veg

Peat alone isn't good for plants. It's normally used for water retention. I think your ratio of peat to compost is ideal for growing anything.

You may need to add a bit of limestone to grow cole crops, since the peat is acid, and soil that is too acid makes them susceptible to diseases like club root.
